Counselling Centre for Survivors of Disasters

This counselling centre is our main programme that provides direct services with our primary target groups. A group of 7 counsellors is employed to run the counselling clinic and they often visit the disaster survivors in the field and educate them about the services available at CPC. People who need mental health or psychological supports are referred to the Counselling Clinic. In the centre, the clients receive a systematic counselling session conducted by the counsellors.

Support programme for Children to re-start their schooling.

We are trying to help nearly 200 children through this programme. Our main aim of this programme is to provide these children with a package of school materials so that they can re-start schooling which they have stopped due to a large number of reasons.

Psychosocial Wellbeing Development Prgramme for Elderly war Widows.

Our counsellors presently work with a group of war widows affected by armed conflict some year ego.  Their major difficulty is lack of permanent source of income and persistent psychosocial-helplessness. We are trying to organize income generation programmes for each widow of this group.

Academic Activities:

We maintain a systematic case record system of the disaster survivors who seek assistance from CPC. Since the inception in April 2005, nearly 3000 survivors of disasters have sought our assistance for emotional and personal problems, and the like.

We also conduct fact finding surveys, to improve our in-house information centre and the library. We intend to collect data/information about the different aspects of the disaster in the district, so that we can make this information available for those who want to carry out different humanitarian activities in our country.

Cultural Exchange Programme
Presently we are studying Traditional Psychotherapy and Healing methods in Asian Countries. We expect to invite Volunteers, University Students to visit us and share their experiences and train our counsellors.
