We are the Centre for Psychosocial Care (CPC), devoted to serving persons affected by disasters in Sri Lanka. We are an independent humanitarian organization founded in June 2005. Our vision is to serve our country with the faith in the fact that communities consist of broadly diversified Psychosocial-Cultural Systems. Even though, we have different Psychosocial-Needs in these broadly diversified Psychosocial Cultural Systems, we should meet them equally irrespective of any difference..

Our Mission
We are committed to serving people affected by disasters in Sri Lanka, with a primary focus on improving their psychosocial wellbeing. Furthermore, we are committed to gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Psychosocial Consequences of the disasters by working together with all communities.

 
 

Our Objectives
Our primary objective is to provide appropriate Psychosocial Care with the persons adversely affected by Man-Made and Natural Disasters. Secondary objective involves attaining a deeper understanding of the Psychosocial Consequences of the disasters in Sri Lanka.

In support of these objectives,

  • We carry out family-based psychosocial support programs in the disaster stricken communities.
  • We work at the community levels to enhance the basic human rights of survivors of disasters.  
  • We work to develop community-oriented traditional support systems.
  • We contribute to the management of the aftermaths of the disasters at the community levels.
  • We conduct in depth study on disasters in the region we work.

Our Ethics
For the Target Population we are committed to,

  1. Treating all with dignity irrespective of any Psychosocial Difference
  2. Providing care to the best of our ability
  3. Providing high standard confidential and individualize care or service.

For the Donors we strive to,

  1. Maintain responsibility and accountability for all the donations.
  2. Maintain high standard and authentic document system with transparency

For the support groups we agree to,

  1. Effectively communicate.
  2. Work with mutual understanding and share the experiences.

For the country we,

  • Assist in promoting welfare of the people affected by disasters in the country.
  • Contribute to the prevention of man-made disasters.
  • Assist prepare and manage natural disasters.
  • Perform under the broad cultural values while respecting the law of the country.
